ZERO STREAK FOR BRADY
Brady Tkachuk continues to do Brady Tkachuk-like things, except score goals.
He’s up to 181 shots on goal and 160 hits, but he has been held off the scoresheet for the past seven games, since a Jan. 7 goal vs. Detroit.

It’s not like he has done nothing, but he has gone through a stretch of bad luck and not enough opportunities created and capitalized on.
Tkachuk, the Senators captain, still has 18 goals and 20 assists and has a team-leading nine power-play goals.
With his next two-point game, Tkachuk will become just the fifth player in Sens history to record 100 multi-point games with the franchise.
Tkachuk also is closing in on becoming just the sixth player in franchise history to hit the 400-point plateau. With 387 points, he’s currently three points behind Marian Hossa for seventh on the club’s all-time scoring list.
BEASTS OF THE EAST
The Senators are in the middle of a long string of games (seven straight) against Eastern Conference opponents.
After games in New York and Boston, Ottawa returns home for a Saturday game against Utah. After a three-day layoff, the Senators are then home to Washington.
The games against conference opponents, obviously, have an elevated importance.
NEW YEAR, NEW HOPE
After a rocky start to the new year, the Senators have turned it around.
The Senators lost their first four games in January, but have since won five and taken an overtime loss in their past six games and have a 24-18-4 record.
Article content
Prior to this, the previous time Ottawa was five games over .500 in January was during the 2016-17 season. On January 31, 2017, the Senators had a 26-16- 6 record.
