A new illustrated book set in the world of Nickelodeon’s “Avatar: The Last Airbender” is set for release this fall.

From Dark Horse Books and Paramount Consumer Products, “Beasts of the Four Nations: Creatures from ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ and ‘The Legend of Korra’” is described as a “full-color collection of art and lore” that “provides an in-depth exploration of the Four Nations’ animal inhabitants.”

The “Beasts of the Four Nations” guidebook is written by John O’Bryan, one of the original writers on the “Avatar: The Last Airbender” animated series (which ran for three seasons from 2005-2008), in collaboration with the series co-creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. The book features cover art by Devin Elle Kurtz.

Per the “Avatar: The Last Airbender” project’s description, “One of the things everyone loves about the Four Nations is all the strange, wonderful, and sometimes scary creatures that inhabit them. Some of the most notable among these creatures are the Air Nomads’ flying bison, Kyoshi Island’s elephant-koi, the Earth Kingdom’s singing groundhogs and fire ferrets, and even the little purple pentapus.”

The standard hardcover edition of the book will retail for $39.99. The Deluxe Edition is set at $79.99 and includes foil highlights, a designed slipcover, and a lithograph print housed in a folio.

“Beasts of the Four Nations: Creatures from ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ and ‘The Legend of Korra’” will release in bookstores on Sept. 23 and in comic shops on Sept. 24. The book is available for preorder now on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, TFAW, and more.
